Wanting a Little Help with Lab-Style Simulations

So, I have been diving into the “Simulation Methodology” class lately trying to set up a slab model for some random catalyst surface, and let me tell ya, it’s cute how normal everything looks until you hit that weird boundary condition bug at 3 am. Anyway, I figured I’d pop over here and see if anyone else’s simulation ever just throws a tantrum right when you think you fixed everything.

I usually start with something simple: choose your slab, apply pseudo-potential, pop in k-points… then bam atoms go wild. Last night I ended up restarting the job, only to realize I forgot to fix the bottom layer. Classic. But hey, sometimes that messy trial-and-error is the only thing that teaches, right?

Also, totally random side note that just came up in my chaotic brain—has anyone tried using admission essay help for lab report intros? I know it sounds weird—mixing essay writing services into materials science but I was stuck scribbling a formal intro about catalysis and thought, “Hmm, maybe a little professional help could make this less lame.” And yeah, maybe that crossed a line into sounding too polished, but honestly, it gave my report a bit more flow. Just saying, if you ever feel your intros are dry as concrete, a tiny nudge might help. :)

Okay, back to the main mission: if any of you have tips for handling convergence issues or want to vent about those annoying “structure not found” errors, I’m all ears. I can share my screen-grab chaos if you wanna laugh or commiserate.

Alright, that’s enough rambling. You folks are awesome thanks for creating a chill space to rant/share & hopefully solve a bug or two together!
